Forest
"Into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul."
My forest paintings are made entirely with a palette knife, their raw textures echoing the landscapes I walk and run through daily in Lake Forest, Illinois. They seek to capture the shifting interplay of light and color — the stillness, the rhythm of time, and the quiet presence of decay and renewal.
I see these works as more than records of place, the moss on bark, the grooves of dead trees, and the changing hues of the seasons become visual metaphors for transition and transformation. A visceral reminder that all life is bound by the cyclical nature of change.
