Fashion - Corsets
"Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life"

My earliest memories are of watching my mother, a fashion designer, drape fabric over corseted bodices of lace and whalebone - a world of sensuality where transformation felt possible and beauty seemed infinite. Those moments shaped me more than anything since, and my art is, in many ways, a longing to return to that place untouched by the real world.

In these works, I revisit her presence, exploring our relationship, her artistry, and her eventual decline from Parkinson’s disease. The wooden mannequin stands in for her absence, while the maximalist imagery becomes an ode to her abundance. The series continues to evolve, with new pieces added over time - a living metaphor for my own journey of finding and losing her through the process of making art.
