What is your shipping policy?
FOR ORIGINALS & LIMITED EDITIONS
Shipping times range from 3-9 business days for all ground shipping in the USA. Tracking information will be emailed to you as soon as available. Shipping is based on weight and size.
Due to the size of my oil paintings, a flat rate charge is added to your order. These set prices have been established beforehand with my service provider. However, these costs can vary daily. Should the actual shipping cost be substantially less than the flat rate, you will be reimbursed the difference. Should the actual shipping be much more, you will receive an additional invoice to cover the cost. Please contact me directly should you have concerns.
International shipping, outside Great Britain and Canada, will be handled on a case by case basis. Please contact me directly for a quotation.

How is my art piece packed for shipping?
All oil on canvas pieces are crated and shipped (domestically and internationally) using a specialist service familiar with high-end transit of original fine art. Alternatively large canvases can be removed from the frame, rolled and shipped in a tube via UPS. This is a fraction of the cost compared to crating. This works well if you intended to frame the art in any case. Reframing can actually be cheaper than shipping by crate. You will be responsible for the cost of reframing once arrived at its destination.
Unframed paper originals are rolled and shipped in tubes via UPS. Framed paper originals will be shipped using a crate incurring additional costs.
Do you do commissions?
Yes and I love working with clients, architects and interior designers. Go to my Commissions page for more information or contact me directly to discuss your ideas.
Do you have any testimonials I can read?
Yes. Please visit my testimonials page to see what others have to say about their buying experience and my art.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Online, I accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards. Cash payments can be made if you buy in person. I do not accept cheques.
What is a giclée print?
In my Art Store, all my "fine art prints" are giclée prints. They are the highest quality print available on the market. It will last a lifetime without fading or discoloration. In giclée printing, no screen or other mechanical devices are used, so there is no visible dot screen pattern, unlike regular printers. The image has almost all the same tonalities and hues of the original painting, and the longevity of the print is far superior than any other because only archival inks and museum quality substrates are used.
How can I be sure your giclées are archival?
I have established standards with my print vendor and I require my print vendor to maintain the highest quality possible in the industry. The platform I use to market my art regularly audits my print vendor, and if at any point they do not meet the standards we have set, they will be replaced immediately. I have chosen this vendor specifically for the quality of their products.
When it comes to print quality, we focus on three key areas of the printing process: type of printer, ink, and media (paper, canvas, wood, metal etc). Printers must deliver high resolution and detail, and all media and ink used must meet the archival standard for their respective category. In terms of media, each media type must come from a credible and recognized brand name with an established history of reputable performance and cannot be a cheap import. Keeping these audits up-to-date is so important to me because it allows my customers to feel confident in the quality of their fine art.
What is a "canvas gallery wrap"?
Canvas Gallery Wraps are made with a print on Professional Photo Paper bonded onto museum quality canvas, or a Premium Fine Art Print printed directly onto heavy museum grade fine art canvas (machine stretched & wrapped for proper tension). It is then covered with an UV and scratch resistant coating to protect the surface of the print. The process is museum-quality and will not discolour or warp over time.
What is your policy on returns/exchanges/refunds?
Buying art should bring joy to you and those around you. I want you to be happy with your purchase and will try my best to ensure that you are completely satisfied.
I want you to be happy with your art, and I'm happy to figure out how we can ensure this. If for some reason you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you need to contact me immediately.
Should you wish to return the product, you would need to ship the undamaged item back within 3 business days to receive a full refund, but please let me know first, to make sure you are shipping your return to the correct address (some orders I ship directly, and some are fulfilled by my production partners). You will be liable for all costs incurred.
What do I do if the product is damaged?
All Joalida Smit originals are crated and shipped via a professional art shipping company and insured at full cost. Art prints are shipped via Fed Ex or UPS. If the item is damaged on arrival, please contact me immediately with photos of the damaged art and packaging. A partial or full refund is contingent upon the insurance claim decision made by the mail carrier. You would need to provide me with photos as proof and send this to me as soon as possible. Save the damaged pieces and the packaging because until the claim is closed, the carrier may want to come by and have a look at the damage.
Can I cancel my order?
All print sales are final. Please contact me as soon as possible if you need to cancel your order. Once a print has left the printer, you are liable for the cost. Should you not be happy with your order, please contact me immediately to discuss.
Original art products cannot be cancelled once they have been shipped, unless you pay for it to be returned to me within 3 business days. A refund will be offered once the art work has been returned to me and found to be undamaged.
